Travel Tuesday is LIVE! I am starting a new segment sharing album style blog posts of my travels. Sometimes, words aren’t enough and you need a dozen images! Last weekend I had an incredible time in Langebaan which sits in the Western Cape, South Africa. I put my feet up and shut my MacBook, I was ready to properly relax and experience what the small town had to offer.
My thoughts on Langebaan, Western Cape:
A retreat in the form of a town. The white beaches and clear seas make you think you’re in Europe when in fact you’ve travelled just short of 2 hours from Cape Town. Aptly named, Mykonos is picturesque with something for the whole family at the casino and play area. The nightlife showcases true Afrikaans culture with local music and cheap drinks, be prepared to be swept up by a strapping man in the local “sokkie”dance. Small shops line the road down to the beach and are definitely worth the browse for small treasures and one-of-a-kind pieces. I went with a group of girlfriends and I’ll definitely be back to have another recharging weekend sipping wine and watching the sunset.
When to visit?
It does get cold in winter, but that doesn’t stop it from being beautiful. Having gone during the tail-end of winter, I can honestly say I wouldn’t go any other time. It’s chilly in the evening to cosy up by a fire and it’s warm enough to enjoy the sunshine on the beach during the day. As always, it depends on the type of holiday you’re looking for.
See you next week where I will be showcasing another awesome spot somewhere around the world!
