I’ve been around this magical thing called earth for 29 years. I’ve seen some epic views and breath has escaped my chest on more than one occasion. In recent memory, nothing has bewildered me like what I witnessed on the 8th of April 2018. My parents were in town and we took them to see Nami Island for their last weekend here in Korea. We experienced the crappiest weather for most of the day with completely overcast skies and the odd bout of rain. We’d bought them this tour package that included Nami Island, Rail Biking and finally, The Garden of Morning Calm.
How did we make it through the day?
By the time our final stop of the day came round, it was sitting at negative temperatures with a splendid splash of sleet. Our tour guide was cracking some jokes, kinda bracing us for the horrendous experience coming up. The day-trip wasn’t cheap and we were going to get our money’s worth – into the sleet we marched!
Not even 10 minutes into our struggle, the sleet changed to snow. The wind slowed down… and, magic happened. I couldn’t speak for a while – I simply gazed around and just marvelled what was happening around me. Sitting somewhere between tears and giddy laughter, I just basked in the happiness.
When you brace through the bad bits of life with a sense of humour and a positive attitude… you come out the other side a better person for it. That’s what this day reminded me of. We were SO happy to be together as a family again. We laughed through every uncomfortable situation and chose to see the good in what we were faced with. We were rewarded. Oh my goodness, we were rewarded.
Here is why it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen:
I can only show you the snapshots of what I experienced. I tried to capture it as best as I could to share it with all of you.
Stop for a moment today and just take in what is around you. It’s more beautiful than you think.
